Two Kingdoms Master Post
Sun, Aug. 25th, 2013 03:31 amTitle: Two Kingdoms
Canon: Polyfaceted
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Original characters (Meyers family); Brenda (Young) Meyers/Bill Meyers; past Brenda/Brett Saunders
Rating: R
Word Count: 25,634 total
Warnings: PTSD, flashbacks, and related nightmares; references to past domestic abuse, past rape, past child abuse, past incestuous child sexual abuse, "present" incestuous preteen sexual harassment, "present" teen sexual abuse, abortion and guilt over it; alcoholism; drug use; addiction; underage prostitution in terms of sex in exchange for drugs (very oblique/non-graphic); traumatic amputation and character with gunshot wounds from war. Each chapter has its relevant warnings.
Summary: When Brenda and Bill strike up a relationship, they don't know how they'll change each other, nor how their children will factor in. From the mundane things like raising a family, to the realities of their everyday (PTSD, anxiety, depression, and, eventually, a lost limb), to the unusual, their family solidifies every step of the way.
Notes: Many thanks to my beta,
bookblather, and my wife for pushing me to finish the last difficult chapter. Thanks also to
rainbowfic readers whose input has helped shape how this family develops. The art post, here, has the covers (below) made by
katiemariie. (For the record, this is still being beta'd; I'll remove this note when it's done.)
